Reith near Seefeld

Reith near Seefeld is a charming holiday village located at the foot of the prominent Reither Spitze, recognizable from afar. The village, home to the parish church of St. Nikolaus, is part of the Seefeld holiday region and lies about 20 km west of Innsbruck. The municipality stretches over the western foothills of the Karwendel Mountains, set within an intact Alpine landscape highly valued for leisure and recreation in both summer and winter.

At the village, the Reither Moor nature reserve offers a rich diversity of plant life and borders the idyllic Wildsee, which features beach areas and is a popular natural swimming destination in summer. Reith also maintains a traditional extraction of stone oil, still used today for its health benefits in wellness and spa treatments.

Hiking and mountaineering enthusiasts are drawn to the Karwendel Nature Park. From Reith, the Nördlinger Hütte is easily accessible, providing a starting point for further peak tours, such as the ascent of the Reither Spitze. The Karwendel Mountains also offer excellent terrain for mountain biking.

In winter, Reith provides direct access to the slopes at Gschwandtkopf, with the Sonnenlift serving the local ski area. A larger ski area is available nearby at Rosshütte, accessible via the valley station in Seefeld. Cross-country skiing is another highlight: whether skating or classic style, the Karwendel trail network is nearly endless.

Reith bei Seefeld is also located along the route of the Karwendelbahn, connecting Garmisch-Partenkirchen with Innsbruck. While it may not be the fastest way to reach Reith, the journey via this scenic railway is certainly one of the most beautiful.
