The charming high valley of Wildschönau lies in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps.

Visitors can explore 300 kilometers of hiking trails. Every destination is unique and has its own special character: the Kragenjoch (1,400 m) is considered a true place of energy and tranquility. For those aiming to conquer the highest peak, the Große Beil at 2,309 m is the ultimate goal. The Gradlspitz (1,899 m) stands out as a striking mountain in the landscape. An ideal starting point for many mountain hikes is the Schönangeralm at the end of the valley.

The mountains can also be reached comfortably by gondola lifts to the Markbachjoch and the Schatzberg. The new Schatzberg gondola lift now takes hikers even faster to the starting points of numerous hiking tours. One of the best views of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range can be enjoyed from the Markbachjoch. With the Wildschönau Card, all mountain lifts are free of charge!

Special places include the natural gorge Kundler Klamm and Thierbach, the most rustic and highest-altitude village among the four picturesque villages.

Several beginner lifts in Niederau and Oberau are ideal for children taking their first turns on skis. In total, there are 45 lifts.
