At the foot of the free‑standing Thaneller (2,341 meters) lies the municipality of Berwang. This tranquil village is situated in the Reutte district of West Tyrol, on the northern foothills of the Lechtal Alps. At an elevation of over 1,300 meters, the Berwang area connects the Berwanger Tal with the Rotlechtal, where several village districts are located. This high‑altitude location ensures plenty of sunshine in summer and a high degree of snow reliability in winter.

The Skischaukel Berwangertal ski area lies right on your doorstep and is part of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, a cross‑border ski region. With 36 kilometers of pistes, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the slopes in a setting with excellent snow conditions. The Sonnalmbahn departs directly from Berwang into the ski area, which offers runs for all levels of ability. Night skiing is regularly offered. Also new is the Obstacle Park at the Thanellerkarlift, and the Berwang children’s ski school provides great support for young learners. Beyond the alpine slopes, winter Berwang has plenty to offer for cross‑country skiers, and tobogganing fans will also find fun opportunities: the local toboggan run from Jägerhaus down to Berwang is regularly open in the evening hours. In the village there is also a natural ice rink – perfect for ice skating or playing traditional ice stock sport.

In summer, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena invites guests to enjoy hikes through magnificent alpine landscapes. The Berwang Sonnalmbahn is also open in summer and allows visitors to experience nature high above the valley with spectacular panoramic views. At the Hochalm there are traditional Tyrolean specialties to enjoy. A great vantage point and challenge is the Thaneller itself, which can be climbed directly from Berwang. Spectacular natural wonders can also be discovered while climbing or on one of the many mountain bike tours. A special event is the annual summer solstice celebration, where the region’s nighttime mountain slopes become a backdrop for numerous fire artists and festivities.
