Rettenschöss

Rettenschöss welcomes you to the Kaiserwinkl! Nestled between the majestic peaks of the Zahmer Kaiser in the south and the gentle Chiemgau Alps in the north, this tranquil village offers a perfect retreat for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty. The village lies a few kilometers east of the Inn Valley and about 15 km northeast of Kufstein, close to the Bavarian-Austrian border.

A natural gem nearby is Walchsee, which invites visitors to enjoy activities year-round. In summer, the lake is a haven for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts, while in winter it becomes a favorite destination for ice sports.

Rettenschöss is also located at the edge of the Kaisergebirge Nature Reserve, making it an ideal base for exploring the unique mountain landscapes of the Zahmer Kaiser. Hikes to the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte or the Pyramidenspitze reward visitors with breathtaking views over the Inn Valley and the Wilder Kaiser. For those seeking more adventurous mountain sports, the Kaisergebirge is a renowned climbing area with numerous challenging routes and via ferrata. Summer in Rettenschöss can also be enjoyed without alpine sports, with opportunities for golf, cycling, or attending traditional local events.

Winter transforms Rettenschöss into a picturesque snowy paradise. The Hochkössen ski area, practically at the village’s doorstep, offers 30 kilometers of slopes for all skill levels, while the Zahmer Kaiser ski area provides a more family-friendly experience. Cross-country skiers can explore roughly 120 kilometers of trails in the Kaiserwinkl, including the challenging Miesbergloipe directly in the village. Winter hikers will appreciate the scenic trails in the Kaiserwinkl, and the nearby Kaisertal offers spectacular winter landscapes.
